“Have you checked the children?”
If you are picturing an overly dramatic raspy voice saying this, you are probably thinking “that’s not creepy at all.” But how about a ventriloquist whose voice is so unnerving that your skin crawls? If you are looking for senseless and pointless gore, this isn’t the film for you, but if you are looking for a film with scenes that leave you freaked out beyond belief, I recommend that you see it for yourself.
When a Stranger Calls Back is the sequel to When a Strange Calls, and to be honest, it doesn’t disappoint as most sequels seem to do. This is a clean horror and mystery film that starts us off with Julia Jenz (Jill Schoelen), a babysitter who interacts with a “stranded” individual asking her to call the auto club. Without giving too much away, this part made the hair on my skin stand up when I realize that the stranded stranger has manipulated his voice and actually has been in and out of the home without the babysitter knowing. The kids are gone and he had been with Julia the entire time.
Julia receives help from one of the most adorable yet badass women on the planet, Jill Johnson, who hears about her case and takes special interest. No gore or over-the-top special effects in this film, but you will get what you truly came for. You can watch the film by here and let us know what you think in the comment section below.
